Join ART IS BOND. for a special evening with the Houston-based visual artist Lovie Olivia, as she puts her unique brand of hospitality into practice, creating space for the public to participate in the final activation of her acclaimed exhibition, "interiority complex."
The evening's multi-programming event will kick off with an artist talk moderated by Josie Pickens, a longtime friend of Olivia's, and a respected Houston-based organizer, educator, journalist, and cultural critic. This intimate conversation will take visitors on a journey through Olivia's featured body of work, which is lavishly layered in historical context and cultural allusions, promising to be rich with exclusive insights into the artist's creative process.
We invite you to immerse yourself in the captivating world of "interiority complex" in a truly unique setting and connect with like-minded individuals by engaging in an artistic dialogue and exchanging ideas.
Following a brief Q&A session, the evening will transition into a ceremonial printing performance in which Olivia will be making frottage rubbings of her text based works I AM and AIN'T I as a callback to her past performances of excavation at Project Row Houses and the Station Museum of Contemporary Art.
These limited edition prints will be available for purchase and come with the artist's seal and signature. Olivia proposes this experience as an opportunity for viewers to walk away from her cultivated site with something tangible; she describes this public offering of printed impressions as an opportunity to expand the archive she is constantly referencing and growing, as well as to appreciate the smaller art market by producing accessibly priced artworks.
